    This page contains photographs of the stations and equipment used by the North Haven Fire Department both present and past.

 

First Fire Station

This is the first station in town which was located on Peck Street about 1 block from the present Fire Headquarters.  The First Volunteer Company was formed in 1912.

Original Headquarter Company 1

This is the original Headquarters Company 1.  It was built in 1932.  It is located at 26 Broadway.  The building is still there and presently houses the Farm River Antiques.  Out front are the Seagrave Engine 1 and also Engine 3.

Present Headquarters Company 1

In 1974 Headquarters moved about 1 block down the street to its present home at 11 Broadway.  We presently run 1 Engine Company, 1 Truck Company and 1 Emergency Unit out of this station.


1922 REO.  North Haven's First Motorized Fire Engine.  It is driven by Myron Brockett.  The first man to hold the title of Fire Chief in the North Haven Fire Department.

ENGINE 3

Engine 3 was stationed at Headquarters Company from 1963 -1980.   It was used originally as the primary Engine Company in town. It was replaced as the primary Engine Company in 1973 by a Ferrar pumper and was then used for responding to EMAs.

ENGINE 8

Engine 8 was stationed at Headquarters Company 1 from 1980 - 1984.   It's primary duties was responding to EMAs.


EMERGENCY 1

In 1984 Engine 8 was replaced by Emergency 1.  This was our first vehicle which was dedicated to Emergency Medical calls.  This vehicle had outside compartments on both sides with a small walk in area in back.


EMERGENCY 1

Around 1987  the original Emergency 1 was replaced with this vehicle.  It is very similar  to the vehicle it replaced.  This vehicle has a heavier duty chassis.


EMERGENCY 1

In 1997 the present Emergency 1 was purchased.  It is designed similar to an ambulance.  It has some outside compartment with a large walk in area in the back.  It can easily be fitted with stretcher mounts if the department decides to expand our EMS services to include transport.

ENGINE 1

This Seagrave Engine was station at the original Headquarters Company 1. It's date of manufacture is unknown but being researched.  It was replaced by the a Ferrar in 1973.

ENGINE 1

This Ferrar Engine 1 was stationed at Headquarters Company 1 from 1973-1987. It replaced a Seagrave Engine.   It was the primary pumper in the Town of North Haven.


 

 

ENGINE 1

This Pierce Engine 1 was stationed at Headquarters from 1987 - 2004 replacing the Ferrar Engine.  It is presently still in service for the Town of North Haven operating as Engine 7 in one of the Volunteer Companies.


ENGINE 1

This 2004 Pierce replaced the 1987 Pierce as the primary pumper for the Town of North Haven.

Truck 1

Truck 1 is a 1964 GMC cab and chassis with an American LaFrance body, hydraulics and aerial.  It was originally stationed at on of the volunteer stations.  In 1974 it was moved to Headquarters Company 1 when our new station was built.  Truck 1 has been refurbished twice giving it a new cab and chassis and also new compartments. 


 

 

TRUCK 1

After being refurbished twice Truck 1 is remained in service at Headquarters Company 1 until March 2001.

In March 2001 the Town of North Haven purchased a Pierce 105' Aerial to replace the original Truck 1.


 

UTILITY VEHICLE

In December of 2007 the Department purchased a John Deere Gator which will be used as a utility vehicle for special events and emergency operations in areas not accessible to other vehicles.


Marine Unit

In 2004 the department purchased a 10 foot rigid hull inflatable.  It will be used for incidents on the Quinnipiac River and  lakes or ponds in North Haven.


 

This vehicle was donated to the department sometime in the 1980's by one of the local industrial plants.  It had the capability to carry water and foam and was to be used as a hazardous materials unit.  It was never put into service and several years ago was sold.
